What is DEF (Diesel Exhaust Fluid)?
Diesel Exhaust Fluid is an additive that reduces the production of nitrogen oxides (NOx) in diesel vehicles. Not all types of diesel require DEF, but if yours does, it is important to keep the fluid full. Most trucks that have separate DEF reservoirs have a warning light or message that will display if you are running low. If you run too low, an emergency light or check engine light will come on and can slow your vehicle down to as little as five miles per hour. This is something that we check and fill during oil changes.
